The Other Free Models You Can Switch To
9Router is the main event, but it is not the only free option in the stack. When I want to spread the load, there are three more I reach for.
Big Pickle is a free option available in OpenCode. DeepSeek V4 Flash is another free model worth having in the rotation. And you can plug local models straight into the system, which is about as close to unlimited as it gets since nothing leaves your machine.
The point is not that any one of these is the best model in the world. The point is that when you have four or five free routes and a router that falls back automatically, running out of coding capacity stops being a thing that happens to you.
The Honest Objections
I would rather answer these than have you find out later.
"Free coding models are rubbish"
They are not frontier-level. Let me be clear about that: a free model is not Fable 5. If you are doing something genuinely hard and novel, reach for the best model you can get.
