Grok Bot templates are ready-made Bots you add to your account in a couple of clicks, each with its own identity, description, skills and routines already set. You can import one from the template gallery on x.ai, or turn any Bot you've built into a template and share the link with your team or the public.

xAI has added five named templates in its two most recent releases, and the sharing rules have changed too. This guide covers both: what each template does, how importing works, how to publish your own, and the admin switch that controls who sees it.

What a Grok Bot template contains
The docs at docs.x.ai describe a template as a Bot's shared configuration. That is four things:
- Identity, meaning its name and look
- Description of the job it does
- Skills, the step-by-step playbooks it follows
- Routines, the scheduled or event-triggered jobs it runs
Just as important is what a template leaves out. Adding one creates a copy on your own account. The person who shared it never gives you their computer, their logins or their conversation history, and you never give them yours. Your copy starts fresh and learns your preferences from there.
Skills that arrive with a template stay tied to it. The changelog notes that template skills are shown as From template, so you can tell them apart from skills you wrote. The skills docs add one limit: skills that came with the app or with a Bot's template can't be published to your team as your own.
All five Grok Bot templates named so far
The changelog at x.ai/changelog/bot names five templates across two releases. All five sit in the buying and subscriptions space, and all five keep you in charge of anything that costs money.
| Template | Release | What it does | Where it stops for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Order Concierge | v0.77.0, 26 Oct 2026 | Tracks orders, refunds and returns | Doesn't buy without your OK |
| Deal Watcher | v0.77.0, 26 Oct 2026 | Watches prices and coupons | Doesn't buy without your OK |
| Try it, don't pay for it | v0.78.1, 27 Oct 2026 | Starts a free trial, then cancels or reminds you before it bills | Confirms before changing a subscription |
| Find unused subscriptions | v0.78.1, 27 Oct 2026 | Finds plans you pay for and cancels the ones you pick | You choose what goes |
| Watch subscription prices | v0.78.1, 27 Oct 2026 | Checks renewal prices so an increase doesn't surprise you | Read-only until you act |
Behind the three subscription templates, v0.78.1 says Bots can cancel a subscription or look up its price and renewal date, and confirm with you before changing anything. For the buying side of these Bots, such as payment methods and order cards, see our Grok Bot shopping guide.
Which of these is worth running first depends on your business. A shop owner gets more from Deal Watcher on supplier sites. A service business with a stack of software tools gets more from Find unused subscriptions. If you want a second opinion, book a free AI strategy session.

How to add a Grok Bot template
- Open Connect apps in the sidebar.
- Choose Bot templates. The gallery opens on x.ai in your browser.
- Open a template link and read the preview. It shows the Bot's identity, description, skills and routines.
- Choose Import Bot, or Add to Grok Bot on a shared link. You need the Grok Bot app installed to finish.
- Rename the copy if you like, then give it your own scope in the first message, such as which stores, accounts or suppliers it covers.
- Test any routine it brought with it on a safe example before you let it run on a schedule.
One legal detail: templates shared by other users are made by those users, not by Grok Bot. Adding one accepts the third-party bot terms shown at that point.
On a Mac, Cmd+Shift+M opens Connect apps straight away; our Grok Bot Mac guide lists the other shortcuts.

How to publish your own Bot as a template
Built a Bot that works? Share it so a teammate or client can start from the same setup.
- Click the Bot's name at the top of the chat to open its details.
- Choose Share, then Create a copy. The Bot builds a template and posts it in the chat.
- Choose Publish on the template card, then Copy link.
- Send the link. The other person previews it on x.ai and adds a copy.
On iPhone and Android, open the Bot's menu and choose Share as Template.
After you publish, the same Share menu gives you three controls:
- View template details to see what is shared
- Update template to push your latest changes to the shared copy
- Delete Template to turn the link off
Before you share anything, clean it. The docs warn that a public link can be opened by anyone who has it and exposes the Bot's identity, description, skills and routines. Take out API keys, internal URLs, customer data and anything you wouldn't put in a public document. A skill that names a client or a private dashboard link travels with the template.
Public, team-only or off: the admin setting
The changelog for v0.77.0 on 26 October 2026 gave admins a template sharing setting with three positions: public, team only, or not at all. The teams docs call it Public template sharing.
- Public. Anyone with the link can open the template. This is where non-Enterprise teams start.
- Team only. The link opens only for members of your team. Enterprise teams start here.
- Off. Members can't share templates at all.
Cursor enforces the policy on its servers, including for templates that are already public. So switching a team to team-only also closes links people shared earlier.
When sharing is limited, members see it in the app. Create a copy disappears from the Share menu, and publishing shows one of two messages: "Your team doesn't allow public templates" or "Template sharing is turned off." The teams docs recommend keeping public sharing off unless members should publish Bot templates outside the team. Our Grok Bot teams guide covers the rest of the admin page.
Templates vs shared Bots vs duplicates
Three features sound alike. They do different jobs.
- A template gives each person their own copy of a Bot. Use it when people should run the same role separately.
- A shared Bot is one Bot the whole team chats with. Use it when everyone should feed the same Bot and see its work.
- Duplicate, on iPhone, copies one of your own Bots for a new scope. It carries the profile, settings, enabled skills, routines and avatar, but not conversation history, learned memory or attachments.
The open alternative: Hermes Agent and Agent OS
Grok Bot templates live in xAI's gallery, and an admin switch decides who can share them. If you'd rather own the template outright, Hermes Agent inside an Agent OS setup is the open route. Your agent roles, skills and schedules are plain files you can copy, version and hand to a client without asking a platform first. The Agent OS guide shows the build, and Goldie Bench ranks which models handle real agent tasks.

FAQ
Where do I find Grok Bot templates?
Open Connect apps in the sidebar and choose Bot templates. The gallery opens on x.ai. Open a template and choose Import Bot to add your own copy.
Does a Grok Bot template share my logins or chats?
No. The other person gets a copy of the Bot's identity, description, skills and routines. They never get your computer, logins or conversation history. Strip secrets from skills before you publish.
Why can't I share my Bot as a template?
Your team admin has limited template sharing. Create a copy disappears from the Share menu, and publishing shows "Your team doesn't allow public templates" or "Template sharing is turned off." Ask an admin to change Public template sharing.
Which Grok Bot templates exist right now?
The changelog names five: Order Concierge and Deal Watcher in v0.77.0, and Try it, don't pay for it, Find unused subscriptions and Watch subscription prices in v0.78.1.
