Remotion Antigravity vs Claude Code Remotion — both produce AI videos with Remotion, but they're different tools with different trade-offs. After running both extensively here's the honest comparison.
I've used both extensively. This post is the honest comparison covering when each wins, how to pick, and when to use both.
The Quick Verdict
Remotion Antigravity wins for solo operators on tight budgets, free credit users, Google ecosystem fans, and people who want IDE plus chat in one app.
Claude Code Remotion wins for power users with Claude Code subscription, code-heavy workflows, more polished AI quality, and larger context handling.
Both produce videos via Remotion. The difference is the AI agent driving them.
What Each One Is
Remotion Antigravity
Google Antigravity (free IDE with built-in AI) plus the Remotion skill installed. Free.
Claude Code Remotion
Claude Code (paid IDE-style AI tool) plus the Remotion skill installed. Paid via Claude Code subscription.
Both use the same Remotion library. Both produce comparable videos. The IDE/agent layer differs.
Cost Comparison
Remotion Antigravity costs nothing — Antigravity is free, Remotion is free, total is $0. Antigravity has free credits that may run out for heavy use.
Claude Code Remotion costs roughly £20/month — Claude Code subscription plus free Remotion. Total roughly £20/month.
For tight budgets, Antigravity wins. For unlimited use, Claude Code's monthly might be cheaper than topping up Antigravity credits.
Speed Comparison
For a typical 30-second video.
Remotion Antigravity setup is 25-45 minutes first time, then 15-25 minutes per video.
Claude Code Remotion setup is 15-25 minutes first time, then 15-25 minutes per video.
Per-video speed is comparable. Setup time is shorter with Claude Code.
Quality Comparison
For Remotion code generation specifically.
Remotion Antigravity quality varies — sometimes excellent, sometimes struggles. Uses Google's AI models. Free credits may have rate limits.
Claude Code Remotion has higher consistency. Uses Anthropic's Claude models. Better handling of complex prompts.
For most everyday video, both work. For complex multi-scene videos, Claude Code edges ahead.

Reliability Comparison
Real-world testing notes.
Antigravity sometimes has chat that struggles with installs. Recommended to have Claude Code as backup.
Claude Code is more stable in my testing with fewer "install failed" moments.
For critical work, Claude Code wins on reliability.
Use Case Recommendations
Match the tool to the use case.
Use Antigravity when
You're on a tight budget, you're already in the Google ecosystem, you want IDE plus chat in one app, or you're testing and exploring.
Use Claude Code when
You have the subscription, you want maximum reliability, you build videos at scale, or you need consistent quality.
Use Both when
You want redundancy with one as backup, you're testing one against the other, or you're stretching free credits.
For most pros, having both is the smart play.
Hybrid Workflow
What I run.
Primary is Claude Code Remotion for most production work because it's reliable and consistent quality.
Backup is Antigravity for when Claude Code is being slow or I want to A/B test outputs.
This gives me redundancy plus variety.
Side-By-Side Decision Table
| Aspect | Antigravity | Claude Code |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free + credits | ~£20/month |
| Setup time | 25-45 min | 15-25 min |
| Reliability | Variable | Higher |
| Quality | Good | Higher consistency |
| Best for | Budget users | Power users |
| Backup option | Claude Code | Antigravity |
For each user, the right pick differs.
Real Performance Test
A specific test from real use. Same prompt: "Create a 30-second video for [offer]. Modern colours, three benefits."
Antigravity had 1 attempt fail (install issue) and 1 attempt succeed. Quality was 7/10.
Claude Code had 1 attempt succeed. Quality was 8.5/10 with more refined output.
For this specific test, Claude Code edges ahead. But Antigravity got there too — and free.
What Both Have In Common
Both use the Remotion library, generate React code, produce real MP4 videos, support iteration via prompts, and render to standard video formats.
The end output is comparable. The journey there differs.
When Free Tier Antigravity Becomes Limiting
Three scenarios where you'll want to upgrade.
Heavy daily use burns through free credits fast with multiple videos per day.
Complex prompts mean bigger context, which equals more credit consumption.
Long sessions hit credit limits during extended coding work.
For these, Claude Code subscription pays for itself.
Pairing Either With Other Tools
Both work alongside Claude Code SEO Agent for written content automation, Hermes Swarm for multi-agent workflows, and Manus Cloud Computer for always-on automation.
The Remotion video creation layer plugs into broader content stacks cleanly.
My Recommendation
For solo operators new to AI video, the path is clear.
Start with Antigravity (Remotion)
Free. Test the workflow. Build first 5-10 videos.
If you outgrow free credits
Add Claude Code subscription. Use both.
Long-term setup
Run both. Use Claude Code for production. Antigravity as backup or for budget projects.
What Each Doesn't Do
Both have limits. Both can't generate AI moving imagery (use Pika or Runway for that), can't create live-action edits (use Premiere or Final Cut), and can't replace creative video direction.
For composition plus animation videos, both excel. For other categories, use specialised tools.
Setup Comparison
Antigravity setup: install Antigravity, add Remotion skill, create Remotion project. 25-45 minutes total.
Claude Code setup: already have Claude Code installed, add Remotion skill, create Remotion project. 15-25 minutes total.
Claude Code has faster setup if you're already a user.
Daily Reality
What it looks like running both. In the morning I fire up Claude Code for production video. If Claude Code is slow I switch to Antigravity. For experimental videos I use Antigravity to save Claude Code credits.
Best of both.
