How To Use Manus Cloud Computer (Beginner Guide)

The Manus Cloud Computer is genuinely simple to use, and after onboarding several beginners through it I've put together the cleanest path for getting your first always-on AI workflow running.

If you've heard about the Manus Cloud Computer and don't know where to start, this is your post. By the end you'll have a clear understanding of what the Cloud Computer is, a clear first project to build, and a roadmap for scaling up over your first 30 days.

What The Manus Cloud Computer Is

A personal computer that lives in the cloud. It runs all the time and remembers everything. You don't need to know any tech stuff to use it — you tell Manus what you want, it builds it, and it runs forever.

Manus' Three Modes

Manus has three different modes, each for a different scope of work. Sandbox is for quick one-off tasks like a hotel room you check into briefly. Desktop is the regular computer feel where you control it like a laptop. Cloud Computer is always-on and persistent like a house.

For 24/7 workflows, Cloud Computer is the one to use.

Step 1 — Sign Up For Manus

Go to manus.ai (or wherever Manus' sign-up page lives), create an account, and pick a plan that includes Cloud Computer access.

Step 2 — Open The Cloud Computer

Inside Manus, switch to Cloud Computer mode. You'll see a dashboard — this is your always-on environment.

Step 3 — Plan Your First Project

Don't try to build something massive on day one. Pick something simple like a daily news summary that posts to your inbox, a bot that auto-replies to a specific Telegram group, or a monitoring system that watches one website and alerts you.

I'd recommend starting with the daily news summary because it's useful from day one, low risk if it breaks, and teaches you how Manus works without complexity.

Step 4 — Tell Manus What You Want

In the Cloud Computer interface, describe your project in plain English.

For example: "Build me a daily news summarizer. Every morning at 8 AM, fetch the latest AI news from 3 specific RSS feeds. Summarise the top 5 stories. Email the summary to me at [my email]."

Be specific. The more detail, the better the output.

Step 5 — Approve The Plan

Manus will lay out the steps for you. Review them carefully. If they look right, approve and Manus starts building.

Step 6 — Watch It Run

Once Manus has built and deployed, it runs in the background. You'll get the daily emails or whatever your output is, files persist between runs, and the system keeps going while you sleep.

That's the always-on magic.

Step 7 — Iterate

After a week of running, you'll notice things to improve. Tell Manus directly: "The summary is too long, make it shorter." Or "Add a 4th RSS feed." Or "Change the email subject to include the date."

It updates the system without you touching any code.

What To Build In Your First 30 Days

A roadmap that compounds.

Week 1: Daily news summary

Start here. Simple, low-risk, useful. Get the foundations right before scaling.

Week 2: Customer chat handler

Connect Manus to your business email or Telegram and auto-reply to common FAQs.

Week 3: Social media auto-poster

Schedule daily posts so Manus handles publishing while you focus on creating.

Week 4: Price/availability tracker

Monitor a website for changes and alert you on Telegram when something matters.

By month one you've built 4 always-on systems. That's productivity you can't get from a regular AI tool.

Common Beginner Mistakes

Four mistakes worth avoiding.

Building too big on day one. Start small, get one thing working, then expand.

Vague requests. "Build me a customer service system" is too vague. "Auto-reply to FAQs about pricing and shipping in my Telegram bot" is specific.

Skipping iteration. The first version is never perfect — plan to refine it weekly for a month.

Forgetting to monitor. Even always-on systems can break. Check your Manus dashboard at least once a week.

Comparing To Other AI Tools

Quick comparison. Claude or ChatGPT respond to you, while Manus runs systems for you. Hermes or OpenClaw on your local machine need your computer running, while Manus runs in the cloud. AWS needs technical skills, while Manus doesn't.

You can use them together — see Hermes Agent Swarm for local plus cloud hybrid setups.

Daily Reality Of Manus Cloud Computer

Once your projects are running, emails arrive in your inbox, customers get auto-replies, social posts go out on schedule, and alerts ping when something matters.

You barely think about Manus. It just runs. That's the goal.

When To Pay More

You'll outgrow the basic plan when you have 5+ always-on systems running, you need higher message volume, or you want priority support.

For most beginners, the basic plan covers months of learning.

What Manus Doesn't Do (Yet)

Be honest about the limits. Highly custom backend code with complex APIs might still need a developer. Niche integrations like specialised CRMs may not be supported. High-performance computing like ML training isn't its strength.

For 80% of solo operator workflows, Manus is enough.

Why You Should Try It Now

Three reasons. Early adopters get a head start because the non-technical builders who learn this now will outpace those who wait. The barrier is genuinely low because you can have your first system running in under an hour. The leverage is huge because one person can build what used to need a team.
