The best grok bot ideas are small, repeatable jobs that end in a draft you review: a morning digest, an inbox sort, a subscription check, a sales research list. The #1 Grok Bot idea is a weekday chief-of-staff digest, because it uses features xAI documents today (a scheduled routine plus Gmail, Calendar and Slack connectors) and it sends nothing without you.

Grok Bot is xAI's agent app. All your Bots share one persistent cloud computer with a browser, files and a terminal. Below are 15 ideas you can copy, each with the feature it uses and a prompt to paste.

How these grok bot ideas were picked

Every idea maps to a capability in xAI's Grok Bot docs or changelog (latest: v0.78.1, 27 Oct 2026). The building blocks:

Small-business examples are illustrations, not reported results.

Grok bot ideas for your inbox and calendar

1. Weekday chief-of-staff digest

xAI lists "Chief of staff" as a starter role. Connect Gmail, Calendar and Slack, then ask: "Every weekday at 7:30 AM, review my inbox, calendar and approved Slack channels since yesterday. Return only items tied to my priorities doc, with the source, why it matters, the next step, and whether I owe a decision. Do not send messages or change meetings."

2. Inbox triage with draft replies

The Gmail connector can search, read, draft, send and apply labels. Prompt: "Label every unread email as Client, Supplier, Admin or Ignore. Draft replies for the Client ones in my voice. Do not send." A local accountant could send only the drafts they approve.

3. A Bot inbox for invoices and order confirmations

Your Bots can claim one address at mail.grokbot.com, and plus aliases land in the same inbox. Give suppliers an alias such as yourname+bills, then set a routine that runs when mail arrives at that alias: "Log the supplier, amount, due date and invoice number into the Bills sheet. Flag anything due within seven days."

4. Calendar booking from a chat request

The Google Calendar connector can read calendars, check free time, create and update events, and respond to invitations. Prompt: "Find three 30-minute slots next week when I am free before noon, and hold them as tentative events titled Client call." It cannot add a Zoom link, so paste that into the event yourself.

5. Send an X thread to Slack with @bot

Reply to any thread on X with "@bot summarize this thread and send the key points to my Slack." @bot posts only a short confirmation on X. Tagging is not yet available for X accounts based in the UK, the EU, Australia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway.

6. A weekly competitor page

A routine can create or update a Page (a report or tracker). Prompt: "Every Monday, check the pricing and blog pages of these five competitors in your browser and update the Competitor Watch page with what changed, with source links." Pages are still rolling out.

7. Meeting notes to a slide deck

xAI lists "a slide deck with speaker notes" as a result you can ask for, and Google Slides arrive on the Bot's computer as .pptx files. Prompt: "Turn the notes in this Drive folder into a ten-slide client update with speaker notes. Save it to Drive as a new file."

8. Images and short clips for a post

The Bot can create pictures and short video clips when you ask, from a description or from images you share. A florist could ask for three product images for a weekly offer post.

9. Find unused subscriptions

The changelog says the Find unused subscriptions template cancels plans you pick from the ones you still pay for. Prompt after adding it: "Show me every plan I still pay for, with the last renewal email for each. Cancel only the ones I pick."

10. Watch subscription prices

The Watch subscription prices template checks renewal prices. Pair it with a monthly schedule.

11. Try it, don't pay for it

This template starts a free trial of another service for you and cancels it, or reminds you, before it bills.

12. Weekly expense summary

"Expense manager" is another xAI starter role. Prompt: "Build this week's expense summary from the expense sheet and the attached policy, flag missing categories, and draft one follow-up per owner. Do not send messages or change reimbursements."

13. Nightly sales research list

xAI's sales outbound starter prompt researches CRM accounts, scores them and drafts outreach, then stops at a review list. A small agency could run it nightly.

14. Slack phrase trigger for quote requests

A routine can start when a word or phrase is mentioned in one Slack channel. Prompt: "When a message in #sales contains 'need a quote', open the linked brief, draft a quote from our price sheet, and post the draft here for me. Never post back to Slack without approval." Keep the phrase narrow.

15. Website form to webhook to draft reply

A routine can start from a webhook call, and the Bot receives the JSON body with the instruction. A plumber's contact form could POST each enquiry, and the routine drafts a reply email and a proposed visit slot. Email started by a routine waits as a draft until you press Send.

How to set up grok bot ideas so they keep working

xAI's docs give the order: one-time task, then skill, then routine.

  1. Give the Bot one job, its sources and its limits in the first message, and ask it to remember them.
  2. Run one real task with a safe scope. Correct it until the result needs no edits.
  3. Ask: "Save the process we just used as a skill called Weekly bills." Test it on a second input.
  4. Create the routine. Check When to run shows the right schedule and time zone, then press Test. A new routine waits for its next scheduled time.
  5. Add Ask first rules in Auto-review for sending, publishing, purchases and deletions.

Limits worth knowing: a Bot can own up to 50 routines, schedules must be at least five minutes apart, and every run spends usage. For deeper walkthroughs see Grok Bot routines, Grok Bot skills, Grok Bot templates and Grok Bot connectors. If your team lives in Slack, read Grok Bot in Slack and the companion page on Grok Bot for business.

Grok bot ideas FAQ

What is the easiest Grok Bot idea to start with?

The chief-of-staff digest. It only reads and summarises, so nothing goes out without you.

Can Grok Bot run these ideas while my computer is off?

Yes. xAI's docs say Bots work on a persistent cloud computer and routines run in the cloud while your laptop is closed.

Will Grok Bot send emails or buy things without asking?

Auto-review is on by default and checks each action. Email a routine writes from the Bot's own address waits as a draft. xAI notes that a card saved in Vault fills in at checkout without asking each time, so leave cards unsaved if you want to approve every payment. See Grok Bot shopping.

Which Grok Bot idea suits a small team?

The Slack phrase trigger and the nightly sales list. Both stop at a draft. For a wider view of tools, see the best AI agents for small business, or talk it through on a free AI strategy session.

If you’re looking to become the AI expert and build/create something meaningful, then AI Profit Boardroom is for YOU!Steven Gray, AI Profit Boardroom member review (5 stars, paying member for 4 months): Been in awhile. I’m a dad on a factory shift, not a tech bloke. Julian’s lot showed me how to use AI without drowning in tools. Avatar, voice, the workflow thinking — that’s what I needed. If you’re stuck on “where do I start,” this group’s worth it. I always read them.Steve Erickson, AI Profit Boardroom member review (5 stars, paying member for 4 months): I asked Julian a simple question, and he ended up creating a 10-minute video and a guide breaking down in extreme detail what I had asked. Amazing response!Rod Martin, AI Profit Boardroom member review (5 stars, paying member for 3 months): Julian is brilliant, and more prolific than I can keep up with (which is a great thing).
